REPRESENTATIONAL PROFESSIONAL CATEGORY

Name of Artist: deborah tilby
Award: BEST IN SHOW - Cash award and free promoted entry
Judge and Category: Jason Sacran, Representational Professional
Judge's Comment: "A beautiful and brave design, with that sign pole butting up against the top and bottom of the format, right in your face in the foreground. But, not only does it work - it actually leads you where the artist wants, as it begins a repetition of elements taking you into the mid-ground like music notes beautifully composed across a page. Wonderful painting by a fearless artist."
Name of Artist: Brian Sindler
Award: FINALIST - Free promoted entry
Judge and Category: Jason Sacran, Representational Professional
Judge's Comment: "Mood and subtlety are the first words that come to mind. This painting proves that less is more with its harmonious color and compositional choices. This painting is done by a master who is in tune with what it is that needs to be said."
Name of Artist: Anna Rose Bain
Award: FINALIST - Free promoted entry
Judge and Category: Jason Sacran, Representational Professional
Judge's Comment: "The colors in this piece are so beautiful. That nearly muted green with the warm horse against it sings. Great compositional structure, value and color contrast, as well as strong execution. The light and shadow on the horse is masterful to say the least. The artist created an almost fairytale moment with a wonderful feeling of peace and connection."
Name of Artist: Kim VanDerHoek
Award: FINALIST - Free promoted entry
Judge and Category: Jason Sacran, Representational Professional
Judge's Comment: "A beautiful contemporary take on painting a landscape. What I loved about this was the artists choices with design. The road in the middle foreground, the bush in the left corner, the road cutting off the foreground and mid/background - very risky with a great payoff."
Name of Artist: Andrey Pingachev
Award: FINALIST - Free promoted entry
Judge and Category: Jason Sacran, Representational Professional
Judge's Comment: "Very nice subtle colors and lovely design. This artist knows their craft. The warm/orange transition to cool/blue in the snow covered log in the foreground is wonderfully observed and executed. Bravo on a beautiful painting."

ABSTRACT PROFESSIONAL CATEGORY

Name of Artist: Monika Harmund Csanyi
Award: FINALIST - Free promoted entry
Judge and Category: Nelya Akimova, Abstract Professional
Judge's Comment: "The artist immediately conveys to the viewer the feeling of an outside observer of life. Masterfully and subtly, the master conveyed all the details of wet and fogged glass. Looking at the picture, we almost physically feel the humidity of the air. The artist invites us to stop and solve the riddle, where does the person go, what is waiting for him?"
Name of Artist: Carole Matthews
Award: BEST IN SHOW - Cash award and free promoted entry
Judge and Category: Nelya Akimova, Abstract Professional
Judge's Comment: "This work illustrates the artist’s ability to combine a mesmerizing play of color with a masterful depiction of embossed subtleties and details. The author takes the viewer's imagination to imitate the cave paintings of our ancestors. The artist was able to portray the light, transmitting tangible heat from a nearby cave fire."
Name of Artist: Bob Landstrom
Award: FINALIST - Free promoted entry
Judge and Category: Nelya Akimova, Abstract Professional
Judge's Comment: "The artist uses an amazing technique—drawing an image on a volcanic stone. This creates a contradictory feeling—rough roughness and softness of velvet. At the same time, the viewer is fascinated by the combination of colors, the feeling of light coming from below. The poster image refers to the world of animation. But this is done in contrast to the plot and purpose of the picture, which has a speaking name in Latin. This contrast 'catches,' invites you to further view and search for emotions and meanings."
Name of Artist: Ernie Kleven
Award: FINALIST - Free promoted entry
Judge and Category: Nelya Akimova, Abstract Professional
Judge's Comment: "The picture immediately attracts attention with the movement of air. The artist skillfully conveys the vibrations, the desire to go up, the embossed surface. A complete sense of the presence of negative and positive spaces is created, involving the viewer in the vibration of light and air."

NOVICE / FOR THE LOVE OF PAINTING CATEGORY

Name of Artist: Jeanne Conant
Award: BEST IN SHOW - Cash award and free promoted entry
Judge and Category: PaintingContest.Org Panel of Art Professionals, Novice / For the Love of Painting
Judge's Comment: "Stunning scratch board rendering of a wild horse is beautifully detailed and compositionally exciting. Areas of light and dark almost magically denote not just a sense of the subject's color but also dimension and depth in an otherwise monochromatic painting."
Name of Artist: Karen Burns
Award: FINALIST - Free promoted entry
Judge and Category: PaintingContest.Org Panel of Art Professionals, Novice / For the Love of Painting
Judge's Comment: “The artist’s ‘alla prima’ technique, applying color directly to canvas from a life study, lends itself well to the goal of depicting a natural garden. There’s a sense of balanced spontaneity throughout. Painterly texture with pleasing color harmony and the illusion of floral elements emerging up from the canvas is both delightful and engaging.”
Name of Artist: Jan Oxendale
Award: FINALIST - Free promoted entry
Judge and Category: PaintingContest.Org Panel of Art Professionals, Novice / For the Love of Painting
Judge's Comment: “One experiences the serenity expressed by the artist, walking the winding path alongside her through the saguaro, ‘neath the shadow of the White Tank mountains. An iconic Arizona landscape, the soft hues and buttery impressionistic strokes create a sense of dreamy repose.”
Name of Artist: Perla Garza
Award: FINALIST - Free promoted entry
Judge and Category: PaintingContest.Org Panel of Art Professionals, Novice / For the Love of Painting
Judge's Comment: "This abstract impressionistic painting transports the mind from macrocosm to microcosm; we may notice aerial views with water flowing over land; look again, and see the gnarled forms of an ancient trees or the crystalline surface of rocks; look beyond, and peer into the life of cells. Converging fractal shapes continually ebb and flow, morphing with each view of the canvas."
Name of Artist: Kalpesh Parmar
Award: FINALIST - Free promoted entry
Judge and Category: PaintingContest.Org Panel of Art Professionals, Novice / For the Love of Painting
Judge's Comment: “The artist captures the viewer’s interest with this nicely detailed rendering of a sacred, centuries-old icon from his homeland, India. The minimally chromatic treatment gives one the feeling of weathered stone, focusing the mind on the sculptural appeal and reverence toward ancient monuments.”
