I love the look of an orchestra. The lighting is often spotlighted with dramatic effect on musicians’ faces sympathizing with the sounds they’re creating. But mostly it’s the expressions of hands, and the way they form beautiful postures as they dance like ballet figures along the strings. Sometimes they pause to vibrate, adding color to a note. Classical orchestras are composed of many aesthetically pleasing shapes, such as the sensual curvatures of cello instruments. These orange beauties glow in stark relief against the players’ muted outfits. Hands, cellos and faces are the main elements that compose this 20x30 oil painting called Cello Section. It’s a painting that depicts the uplifting nature of Classical music, but I often find myself lost in fascination with the the visual beauty of the orchestra.
