In January of 2018 I became my mother's full-time caregiver.

In March she encouraged me to start painting again.

I had forgotten that I could paint and loved to do it.

While I was thinking about trying to paint again, she challenged me to paint a scene from one of her old pictures.

Then she pulled out a 2 x 2 inch black and white photo of this log cabin in Iron Mountain Michigan that belonged to my father's cousin.

I can never pass up a challenge!

    The result is this painting!

Mom never got to see it in the frame, she died in April 2018, one week before the framer finished it.

But she gave me the gift of painting to enjoy once again!

    Thanks Mom!

The colors, light and composition are yummy

Excellent portrait reflecting the mood of the model

This painting brings to mind how fragile our environment is. On a recent hike in Lake Tahoe forest, saw how bark beetles have such a great effect on the forest.

Nice color, composition and mood, with wonderful brushstrokes! Love it!

Very believable use of color. Painterly brushstrokes and the glow of the sun through the tree keeps the viewer in the painting.
