REQUIEM a token of remembrance. For me, it is the memories of my Brother, my Father, my Sister, and my Nephew who were all ripped from my life. I was only 5 years old when I lost my Brother yet it effected me deeply. According to my Mother, he was my world. It was the loss of my Father at age 12 that effected me the most. That pain significantly changed me. I was in my thirties when I lost my Sister and pregnant with my second son. I believe it effected us both. By the time I lost my Nephew, I had become numb to the pain of loss. But now I was more fearful of losing again. Most all of us have experienced this loss to some degree. Some move on with more ease over time. Others carry their memory with intent. They let it drive their lives. In my painting of Requiem, the female figure could be a figment of the man's imagination. She is as he remembers her young and beautiful. While he has gone on to age. The tricycle represents a more child like existence. The man pushes through life all the while keeping her memory alive. He will not forget.
