Part of an ongoing series titled "Windows and Doors," a metaphorical exploration of perception. These works draw on my landscape painting experience but are conceived by looking inward rather than outward. There is a not so subtle allusion to the Renaissance concept of a painting being a window on reality. These paintings are not, however, re-imagined landscapes; rather, they are painted dialogues between painter and medium that symbolically represent the interplay between the momentary and the permanent, the ethereal and the enduring.

The colors, light and composition are yummy

Excellent portrait reflecting the mood of the model

This painting brings to mind how fragile our environment is. On a recent hike in Lake Tahoe forest, saw how bark beetles have such a great effect on the forest.

Nice color, composition and mood, with wonderful brushstrokes! Love it!

Very believable use of color. Painterly brushstrokes and the glow of the sun through the tree keeps the viewer in the painting.
