Acrylic on canvas. Every Friday, when I was in Spain, I would meet my friend Ian in this tapas bar. He always said he would never leave Spain, he loved it so much. That's him, the tall guy in blue, almost as if he is walking out of the painting. In fact, unbeknown to me, he was walking out of my life. Without telling anybody, he left his wife for a policewoman in Yorkshire, England and we never saw him again. The bar is frequented almost entirely by Spanish locals and I just loved the hams all neatly labelled hanging from the ceiling - and the array of wine glasses hanging along the bar. The man at the left is the owner. I gave him a print of the painting - and he was so over the moon with it, he gave me a bottle of Fino and a complete set of sherry glasses.
