This cougar is one of the rescued big cats at Turpentine Creek sanctuary in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Even though my painting does not depict it, the habitat she lives in is large with grass, trees,  enrichment and vet services. The animals there are never used for entertainment but instead are respected and allowed to live out the rest of their lives being as free as possible. I try to get there at least once a year and have painted many of their magnificent residents. They accept and depend on donations for the wonderful work that is done for the animals, the website is www.turpentinecreek.org.

The colors, light and composition are yummy

Excellent portrait reflecting the mood of the model

This painting brings to mind how fragile our environment is. On a recent hike in Lake Tahoe forest, saw how bark beetles have such a great effect on the forest.

Nice color, composition and mood, with wonderful brushstrokes! Love it!

Very believable use of color. Painterly brushstrokes and the glow of the sun through the tree keeps the viewer in the painting.
