Early mornings on the Chesapeake Bay are not quiet or still. The steady hum of engines and the splashing of crab pots are never-ending. The boats stop and start, each following their line, are crisscrossing the Bay in every direction. It takes the hard work of these dedicated watermen to bring local seafood to our table.
To create this painting, I used a combination of thick and thin paint and soft and hard edges, combined with the colors of the soft morning sun. A typical day on the Bay.
