The Old PlaceSave Favorites
I love to drive around with my camera and take photographs of things I might like to use as subject matter while enhancing my collection of reference material. One of my favorite subjects are old buildings, barns, farmhouses, and other things found outside of the urban area. In the country. Perhaps my affinity for these simple, often derelict places is because I grew up on my grandparent's 80 acre farm surrounded by my large extended family and old growth forest. My childhood memories are full of playing in the woods, swimming in the creek. exploring the abandoned old barn on the hill or ringing the school bell in the tower of my uncles old 1901 school house. Happy, carefree times.
I came across this old place one early spring afternoon. From my vantage point on the road below it seemed like an old sentinel perched up on the hill to keep watch. I could imagined the old farmer standing in the big doorway calling his cows in for miking.
