All. That. Jazz.
“Jazz is the graffiti of music,” says Karen Mosbacher.
Jazz is American music characterized by propulsive syncopated rhythms, polyphonic ensemble playing, varying degrees of improvisation, and often deliberate distortions of pitch and timbre. Those accelerated and energetic sounds stimulate Karen’s synesthetic way of seeing differently that other genres of music.
All. That. Jazz. is as wildly fun and full of energy to view as it is to paint.
Billy Mosbacher, declared an “up and coming Jazz pianist” by UpBeat Magazine in the early 50’s, was Karen’s father. As early as she can remember, Karen spent time drawing and coloring under Billy’s piano while he practiced.
