"At the gate" is a tiny painting on wood using memories from Morocco, where I have spent the past year. Standing in front of a large mosquee door, an enigmatic character is feeding some birds. His dress, half traditional, half modern, is reminescent of that of a wizard. Who is he? Is he the guardian of this mystical door? What's behind the door? I have kept the story mysterious for the viewer's imagination to be as active as possible. I believe this is fundamental in narrative art where the painter and the viewer are working hand in hand.
