Every human on earth has indigenous ancestry. If you trace our DNA back far enough it always begins with an indigenous person - native to their land, tied to that country. The DNA from that extraordinary life is still inside us today, buried deep down, observing us, comforting us, and constantly imparting its knowledge and experience to us, across the ages.

So even though I rarely venture out of city walls I feel this presence inside me. Sometimes I feel it so strongly that I feel it shows itself in my art.

This painting represents my connection with my indigenous self. It feels tribal, primitive, essential, it arises out of me without conscious control. I embrace these feelings and this expression. I love this side of me.
