Description

My brother used to be an avid hunter. Knowing how much I liked to draw, he occasionally asked me to draw a pheasant for him. Many years later, it happened and I gave it to him for his birthday.

It was very rewarding working on this piece as I had such a nice time scratching out the feathers and trying out different tools. I would like to create more scratchboards of birds. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you.

Judge's Comment: "Fabulous scratchboard drawing features rendering of carefully observed, minute details with controlled and thoughtful use of strong to soft edges. A beautiful drawing framed by its high contrast background results in a striking and cogent image overall."
