Delightful Neighbour - Wallaby
The story behind this painting is that most of Australia is in drought at some stage, and during these times, I open the gates for the wallabies to enter our garden, wherein they can forage for food and get plenty of water.
The Aussie long weekend, a group of Wallabies came into the property, normally they are solitary and they all enjoyed a little food. This little fellow also came, she has been a regular visitor for some years. She came up to the glass-doorway and sat waiting for her apple and carrots. She was a little stressed by the heat, and stayed on the balcony in the shade.
I could not resist the opportunity to sketch her then whilst she was close and then painted her. Finished off in my studio, the advantage of painting her from life, is her colors are so beautiful, she is so delightful, hence the name "Delightful Neighbour". (Australian spelling!)
