Salute to the City of Florence, ItalySave Favorites
This painting is my Salute to the City of Florence, Italy. Florence produced more geniuses than most countries. The books are biographies of some of her famous sons. We have a reproduction of Michelangelo's David. And a drawing of Da Vinci. There are various tools used by the different trades. The writer, Carlo Collodi, who wrote Pinacchio. One the red, white, and blue book jacket is the name, Amerigo Vespucci, a sea captain after whom our country is named. Notice it casts a shadow on a lower book over a sea shell with an American flag. Up front, there is an open book with a picture of Brunelleshi's Dome on the Cathedral of Florence. The second is a picture of Santa Croche, the church where most of her sons are buried.
