    Description

This painting is a portrait of a western hemlock. Its entangled boughs reach out and bow to the river below. The river separates the hemlock from our tree farm in western Washington.

The river and forest conditions continually shape and reshape the riverbank. This hemlock, with its distinctive branches, always stands out, and when the evening light illuminates the boughs, it looks spectacular.

Beautiful approach - I feel the chill from the snow but the hints of the red background peeking through provide a lovely, warm contrast that's so inviting.

    Fun and very well done.

    Fantastic light!

    beautiful

This is a beautiful portrait. For this viewer that lovely face reflects innocence and purity, although that is perhaps not what the artist intended. Great skill is demonstrated with all the elements of this piece - particularly the textures of the hair and the cap. Overall it is an outstanding image.
