    Description

I recently viewed the stunning photos taken by the Hubble telescope celebrating twenty-five years in orbit around our planet.

A short time later I read an article about the discovery of ancient DNA precursors found in interstellar clouds that predate the birth of our solar system. “During the past decade, astrochemists have found that DNA molecules, the fundamental building blocks of life, find their origins not on Earth, but in the Cosmos.”

These two events inspired me to visually imagine an interstellar cloud swirling in the vastness of outer space, with strands of DNA combining and separating endlessly and perhaps spreading the seeds of alien life to unknown planets.

    Interstellar DNA

I love this painting because of the ideas it inspires. It is always mind blowing how the ultimate macrocosm embodies the microcosm, as well as the tiniest building blocks where laws of physics defy intuitive expectations. Things we think of as non living are shockingly intertwined with what we call living and the beginnings -- and ends -- of all elements in the universe are the same. There was a discovery reported on the other day about a very strong non-regular deep space burst. In the past these were resolved to be pulsars, quasars, etc, but this one is unknown. This painting makes me wonder about all these amazing things.

Well, one must read the description with this painting. The artist projects such an enthusiastic spirit and I am immediately caught up! This painting surely conveys the fantastical, a place inspired by dreams of other realms -- yet within this world, shrouded in the lore of history and days gone by.

I wish there was more socially motivated art such as this one about beach erosion; the concept is well symbolized with falling angles and elements. There is color (life) above but a cold bareness below.

Very colorful meeting of shapes conveys a happy feeling. Looks like a gathering of boats -- as if they are all talking.

I love this scene because I'm reminded of a wild beach I visited just like this. It is so beautifully designed and detailed that I am instantly transported. The strong composition draws me up and into the painting, to the water and horizon beyond. It is a wonderful experience.

Beautifully painted, introspective and thoughtful portrait painted in warm colors of autumn, perhaps symbolizing the rich harvest of one's life experiences. The gaze is one of recalling memories gathering them all to a present moment in time.
