My figurative piece takes me to a whole new level I define as “Extreme Graphite.” My technique is an emotional-precisionist saturation of tones. Using loose graphite applied with a broad brush for subtle delineation in the smoothest textures my girl takes form when graphite sticks or pencils create contrasting textures and values. Water-soluble graphite adds a painted background adding to the theme of her own world where she's not involved with her surroundings but giving attention to the sparkle in her dress. My art is extreme in it’s lightest of lights and darkest of darks, softening edges with a small makeup brush for a more painterly quality.

The colors, light and composition are yummy

Excellent portrait reflecting the mood of the model

This painting brings to mind how fragile our environment is. On a recent hike in Lake Tahoe forest, saw how bark beetles have such a great effect on the forest.

Nice color, composition and mood, with wonderful brushstrokes! Love it!

Very believable use of color. Painterly brushstrokes and the glow of the sun through the tree keeps the viewer in the painting.
