    Description

Natural rock shelters ,caves or overhangs, were utilized by Native Americans as well as their nemesis, the European Longhunters who came in ever increasing numbers to harvest hides from Native lands. Often at their own peril. Appalachian ridges contain numerous such formations and have been used as shelter for centuries.
I have wanted to paint this scene for many years and completed numerous and varied sketches, but always talked myself out of painting it. IT WAS TIME !

Just an amazing work of art.

    Amazing watercolor.

Beautiful, can feel the quiet and almost a cricket.

Beautiful approach - I feel the chill from the snow but the hints of the red background peeking through provide a lovely, warm contrast that's so inviting.

    Fun and very well done.
