    Description

"Carol" is from an on-going series of narrative, figurative portraits entitled "Second Wind." My goal is to challenge stereotypical views of aging by focusing on the vitality and creativity of individuals who have found a new vocation; their active and passionate engagement with creative pursuits developed after the age of sixty-five.

Carol, a retired actress and piano teacher is now an author/illustrator who has published a book loosely based on her life adventures.

This series aims to exemplify the grace and wisdom of those who possess a wealth of knowledge that can only be obtained through a lifetime of experience. And from a painting standpoint, I aspire to preserve the alchemy of light as it transforms the familiar to the extraordinary.

Beautiful approach - I feel the chill from the snow but the hints of the red background peeking through provide a lovely, warm contrast that's so inviting.

    Fun and very well done.

    Fantastic light!

    beautiful

This is a beautiful portrait. For this viewer that lovely face reflects innocence and purity, although that is perhaps not what the artist intended. Great skill is demonstrated with all the elements of this piece - particularly the textures of the hair and the cap. Overall it is an outstanding image.
