    Description

I have been painting night scenes for a long time, especially near where I live. This painting representing one of those. I have painted this particular spot from different angles more than a dozen times as it is one of my favorite places to revisit. It is two main roads and a side road intersecting, all coming together right before the city limits of the next town. I really love the loneliness of the street lamp and how well lit the scene is against the backdrop of dark and distant city lights. Perhaps there is much to be said for my choice of this subject as a favorite. If so, besides a hypothesis or two I am unaware of the real reasons at the moment. I just know I love the place.

Beautiful approach - I feel the chill from the snow but the hints of the red background peeking through provide a lovely, warm contrast that's so inviting.

    Fun and very well done.

    Fantastic light!

    beautiful

This is a beautiful portrait. For this viewer that lovely face reflects innocence and purity, although that is perhaps not what the artist intended. Great skill is demonstrated with all the elements of this piece - particularly the textures of the hair and the cap. Overall it is an outstanding image.
