This painting was inspired by a photo of my granddaughter, flinging her hair back, looking very joyful.  I had just stared to do some zentangle mark making and thought this would work perfectly in the long strands of hair standing almost straight up and going round her head.

Colour excites me when painting and this called out for lots of bright, vibrant colours.  India ink was used for the hair strands, watercolour and some acrylic ink for the background.  Micron pens were used to create the patterns within the hair and the sweater.  This was the most time consuming part of the whole painting, trying to come up with marks to make different patterns. The finished result was definitely worth all the time and effort to me as I saw joy and cheerfulness represented in the finished work.
