This is my painting of a good friend, Elsa Ross who was hidden away in a Catholic Orphanage during the Nazi Occupation of Poland during World War 2. In this painting we see her holding the only photo that she has of her as a young child with her parents, whom didn't survive the occupation, she was saved from the orphanage from her Aunt after the war and was raised in London. This painting is part of an Exhibition that I'm working towards that puts a personal face on the abstract entity that the Holocaust, Focusing more on the life of each Survivor after the War, What it was like to lose almost everything and moved to another country without in many cases, at a young age not even knowing the language.
