Arapaho Whispers - Alberta in FallSave Favorites
I painted this from several references including plein air studies done at Alberta Falls in Estes Park, Colorado. The Estes Park/National Park is one of my favorite places on earth. And while standing there on one of my visits, I couldn't help but think of the native Americans before us. The song by John Anderson, "Seminole Wind" came to mind. I did some research and found that the Arapaho would come from Oklahoma in and spend their summers there. I also wanted to put the viewer outside of the scene rather than in it. Years before, in one spot, there was an aspen tree you had to get around to take full view pictures. So I included the tree to make it feel like the viewer is trying to get closer or look around the tree to get to the "treasure."
