‘Kirthi Shetty’ is the name of my art student and the title of the painting as well. I decided to paint my model after sighting her in a traditional Indian saree that grabbed my attention. Her calm, demure and pleasing personality just blossomed and surfaced in that attire, it just simply had a calming effect on me. This imagery immediately connected with me and prompted me to paint her portrait live without any hesitation. The trophy besides her is used as a metaphor to imply victory dedicated to her name. While the backdrop too is an abstract version of an Indian calligraphy dedicated to her name.

The colors, light and composition are yummy

Excellent portrait reflecting the mood of the model

This painting brings to mind how fragile our environment is. On a recent hike in Lake Tahoe forest, saw how bark beetles have such a great effect on the forest.

Nice color, composition and mood, with wonderful brushstrokes! Love it!

Very believable use of color. Painterly brushstrokes and the glow of the sun through the tree keeps the viewer in the painting.
