About the Artist Sherry Mason (www.sherrymasonart.com) is a traditional realism landscape painter residing in Charlotte, NC. She is predominantly self-taught, inspired by the masters of the Hudson River School, and aspires to bring the old master’s painterly style back into the art world. She translates to canvas the awe-inspiring waterfalls and beautiful, serene mountains of the western North Carolina landscape and other botanicals native to the area. Her realistic depictions of the transformative effects of light and color in the sky, clouds, mountains, water, and flowers declare the glory of God as the Creator. Her practiced technique conveys a sense of immediacy and harmony that we feel in the beautiful world He created. Recently, however, her work is transitioning to include figurative and still life compositions. Mason’s many exhibitions include Women Painters of the Southeast Annual Online Showcase and the Plein Air Salon Online Exhibition. At this time her work can be seen in her Home Studio Gallery in Concord, NC. The artist was juried into the Oil Painters of America (OPA) and Women Painters of the South East (WPSE), two prominent organizations dedicated to the preservation of representational art and promoting excellence in the profession of women’s fine art, respectively. Her artwork is included in numerous private art collections throughout the U.S. She has also created commissioned works of art and donated work for auction to the Make a Wish Foundation as well. As a young adult Mason received the Most Talented award and Art Award in her Senior year of high school. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky, College of Pharmacy and only recently retired to full-time professional artist in 2016.
