Professional artist Marne Jensen has spent most of her life involved in some facet of artistic expression. After majoring in fine art in high school, she continued her art education in college with a minor in fine arts followed by graduate studies plus a variety of work shops with nationally recognized artists. Marne is a published author and former owner of a successful marketing consulting firm in the Seattle area. She was also a faculty member of City University of Seattle and was for several years on the faculty of the Sedona Arts Center in Sedona, AZ.
Marne's focus is exploring and experimenting. She usually has a concept in mind as she begins a project. She works with a variety of artist materials, including the addition of texture and collage, as she creates paintings that reflect her dance with nature.
Marne's award-winning art has been shown in a variety of juried and invitational shows. She is currently represented by Parklane Gallery in Kirkland, WA, and Fogue Studios & Gallery in Seattle.
Marne explains her inspiration: "Working primarily with acrylics, I describe my artwork as abstract and impressionist paintings that capture aspects of nature on canvas. The result is contemporary work expressed with interesting combinations of shape, color and texture. As I begin a painting, I view it as a puzzle that needs solving, and the best solution for each one differs. I rarely work from photo reference, preferring to create paintings from my inner vision rather than copying what I see in front of me. This uncharted territory opens up potential options and choices that offer challenges where the journey many times becomes more important than the destination."
