Jane Hunt relocated from England to the US as a teenager. She received her B.F.A. in illustration from the Cleveland Institute of Art.
After working as an illustrator for several years, she eventually returned to her true love: landscape oil painting.
Jane shares what inspires her to paint: “Moving cross-Atlantic three times in my early years, I spent much of my life with an underlying sense of homesickness. This yearning propelled me to create a sense of ‘home’ within my landscapes. My greatest hope is that my work gives its viewers this same sense of comfort and connectedness; a gentle place to rest.”
Using what she describes as “an impressionistic, tonal style,” Jane hopes to convey the emotional connection she has with each scene. Currently based in Colorado, Jane frequently paints plein air on location and continues to be awed by the beauty of her surroundings. She also strives to emphasize the feelings evoked viewing a scene rather than depicting a specific place.
Today a sought after instructor, Jane is a faculty member of the Plein Air Convention in 2017 and a demo artist and speaker at the Oil Painters of America National Exhibition. Her work has been featured in Southwest Art, Fine Art Connoisseur, Art of the West, Plein Air Magazine, and others, and is represented by galleries in the US, as well as in her native England.
Jane’s award winning paintings have been exhibited at notable galleries and museums internationally. To learn more about Jane Hunt, view her paintings and list of accomplishments, visit her website: https://janehuntart.com
